High Impact Research #6: Dielectrics and Insulators – Physics and Applications

Friday, January 22, 2021

Are APT practitioners sorcerers or scientists?   They somehow use electric fields to create ionization in materials that don’t conduct electricity, and they use visible laser light to heat materials like fiber optics that have large bandgaps. And they do all of this in less than a nanosecond!

In this webinar we will review the physics of what makes this possible (they are scientists, after all) and discuss the analysis of important materials systems that, two decades ago, would have seemed preposterous [e.g. minerals from the Earth and Beyond, Fiber Optic Glasses, High-k dielectrics, Protective Coatings, and more].

February 2nd, 10AM CST.
